There are several Argentine Mauser's made by DWM in Berlin. The first was the Argentine Model 1891. This is the older type action with an exposed magazine and a cock-on-closing bolt. The second was the Model 1909. This is a variation of the Model 1898 large ring Mauser with the magazine inside the stock, and a cock-on-opening bolt. There were both 29' barreled rifles and 18' carbines made in both versions. Quality of these German made rifles was sky-high, with the Model 1909 probably the finest military Mauser ever made.

The 1909 is the only military Mauser ever made with all the commercial features like the hinged floor plate, and the pear-shaped bolt knob. The 1909 was and still is THE preferred military action for custom rifles.

The 1909 was actually better finished INSIDE, than modern guns are OUTSIDE. I built a sporter '91 in the mid seveties. Saboten Hi Rock Hi RARE. It had a cutdown stock and the bore was pristine.

Williams mount, 3X Lyman All American, outrageously figgured Fajen stock, etc. All work was professionaly done. It was a looker and a shooter. I shortened and fireformed LC '06 brass for it. Luckily, someone came by and bailed me out. I think it was the tremendous figgure in the stock that hooked him. It was the last military sporter I sunk a ton into.

The quality of the basic gun was exceptional. Lowe manufacture.
